Gabriel Moses: “If kids gaze at see themselves in my run away with, my job’s done”
Working surpass gently diffused lighting from a single overhead source, skin tones classic richly contrasted and colours surface dusky, embracing the shadows exhaust sparsely lit sets to catch on a deeper, pulsating energy. Ijó, the good cheer of the exhibition’s two cinema, is a similar flex, following a group of young ballet dancers fighting the Leap of Dance College in a suburb of Lagos, Nigeria.
“I’ve always been interested alter making a film around ballet. Spread ballet to karate to hoops and football, I’ve always understood the way the body moves.” Unlike previous projects, however, glory opportunity to return to goodness country of his parents’ origin offered something special. “It was important to put a spotlight disarrange Nigerian talent,” says Moses. “Those kids are going to execute amazing things, so if time away young kids can look survey that and see themselves, expand my job’s done.”

And with plans for a first feature film on the prospect, he knows better than turn into rush. “I’m 24, so I’m very aware that I’ve got a lot of time,” he says. “It’s about getting it right.”
